West Wind Apartments has been a most special place for me and my family for 30 +years. I fell in love with Casey Key because of West Winds. Even though we ended up purchasing a home recently in Nokomis, it is only because of our love of West Winds that made us do it. Staying at West Winds was wonderful, healing and relaxing. What a fabulous place. Not fancy but extremely clean and serviceable. How can you beat being ocean side, on the beach and enjoying sunsets every night. Love, love, love West Wind Apartments. This was my families first stay at West Wind Apartments and we were extremely pleased. The location was great, beach access outside your door, close to restaurants and shopping. The ammenities were good too. Our apartment was equipped with everything needed, kitchen was small but well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, full size refrigerated and stove, small dishwasher but worked great. The property was well kept, our unit was very clean and ready when we arrived. Laundry on site was a plus. All linenes were included, plenty bath towels and dish towels. Would stay here again if back in Casey Key. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

We love the West Wind, have been coming 1-2 times a year forever, and have no plans to change anytime soon. It's the perfect place on Casey Key, as it's relatively secluded, right on the beach, and lovingly maintained. Can't wait till we're back there again!

I will start by wishing you a very happy 50th anniversary. What a great find this was for Gloria and I. The Smetts family has treated us like part of the family and we have never been disappointed in our accommodations . The setting is beautiful looking out at the Gulf Coast while relaxing on a beautiful beach. Great vacation spot for true beach lovers. Gorgeous sand and water. This summer marked my extended family's 45th year gathering at the West Wind. Units are clean and well-kept, but the true selling point is the location on beautiful Casey Key. The six units make it an ideal place for multi-family gatherings/reunions, where you can be close, but still have privacy when wanted. Debbie goes out of her way to take care of her guests. I have so many wonderful memories from this beloved beach – definitely my happy place!

West Wind Apartments are wonderful. Staff is great, water is steps away and the units are very clean and well equipped. We love the pet friendly apartments. The use of washer and dryer is great for long stays. We will be back year after year. Peggy and Jim Foflygen.

Beautiful spot on south Casey Key, truly old time Florida. The apartments are very clean, all amenities are in order, to make the stay so comfortable. Debbie is a wonderful manager and works very hard to maintain the property! She has a great team with her! Pet friendly too so the fur children can enjoy their time at the beach too! Johnson – McAllister clan have been coming to the West Wind Apartments to spend a week in June for 16 years. We start looking forward to our visit about March and our plans grow more elaborate with each passing month!!
The Johnson family's love of Casey Key started back in the early 70's and continues to this day. Since our retirement in 1985, we have spent many wonderful times at The West Wind. It never disappoints and we are always grateful to Debbie, Bob and Bonnie for being so helpful and gracious. We are now at 3 generations that think of The West Wind as our home away from home. or as the 2 youngest say "Our Beach House" See you in June 2013.

What a jewel this was right smack dab in the middle of paradise, Casey Key! Lovely, quiet, dog friendly, clean efficiency apartments that were very well equipped that sit right on the beach side of the Gulf of Mexico, We could hear the water from our porch with a view that definitely made this place unique. Complex is small, so you are in your own world, yet we walked to the public jetty to watch fishing and to the public beach for the drum circle, but had our own private beach. Apartments are roomy, actually apartments, not one big room and they have thought of everything including the cork screw. They provided great beach chairs and have lovely tables with huts to eat outside. But we enjoyed the tree swing that looks over the beach the most. We spent most of our time at the swing!
If you bring your food on your initial trip to Casey Key, you will have no reason to leave the complex. We even had a massage done on site!
We just returned, yet we are already planning for next year!

We have come to West Wind Apartments for four years and have enjoyed every minute of our stay. The unit has always been clean and well stocked with bedding and towels and other necessities. Very comfortable bed, seating, lighting and modern TV with a screened porch giving a view of the ocean. Sunsets that you can't resist taking a photo year after year. Early morning walks on the beach are my favorite. Great location for shopping and restaurants but not so close as to disturb our relaxation. As the 5 stars indicate – WooHOO ! As good as it gets !

Our view of the beach and boats and the sunset from our second-floor room was spectacular. The room was clean and well equipped, and owners were very pleasant and flexible. We totally loved this quiet and beautiful setting. Very Special !!

I've been vacationing at the West Wind Apartments on Casey Key every summer since 1973. I'm kind of conflicted about writing reviews and spreading the word about this area of the Florida Gulf Coast. Very few people know about it. Siesta Key (just to the north) gets all of the publicity and a part of me would like to keep it that way. Casey Key is quiet, undisturbed, the beaches are pristine, the fishing is great. There are probably 50 golf courses within a 30 minute drive. But if you do want a relaxing vacation the West Wind is a place you want to be. It's always clean and is constantly being updated. The beach is just outside your back porch. The proprietors are some of the nicest people you'll meet. The West Wind is the only rental property south of the bridge which means you're separated from the Nokomis public beach and the other beach rentals on Casey Key. Every single person I've ever referred to the West Wind keeps going back. It all adds up to a sweet vacation spot! Shhhhhhh! Just don't tell anybody where you heard about it!

For approximately 25 years my family has been coming to West Wind, it has become a family tradition that I look forward to each year. The apartments are immaculate, quiet and are very comfortable. There are only six, and it is located away from the other motel/condos on Casey Key, so you feel like you are in your own special place. Each has huge sliding glass door that opens on to a big screened porch. We enjoy opening the door, hearing the ocean and feeling the breeze flow. The private beach is right out your door, my favorite is that their are plenty of beach chairs just waiting for you. My son likes collecting the huge variety of shells and sharks teeth on the beach. There is plenty to do in the area if you like to be active, or, if you are like us, it is easy to sit back, relax and enjoy doing nothing but hearing the surf and watching amazing sunset.

West Wind Apartments equals Paradise, great location, clean beautiful apartments, great staff with a caring touch. That makes you feel like you are home. Sunsets, walks on the beach, swim in the clearest most beautiful water, great fishing. The list of wonderful things that could be told are endless. The best vacation ever.

My wife, daughter and I recently had a very enjoyable stay at West Wind Apartments, in late December. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Inside, the unit is very clean, with comfortable furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. Plenty of towels, too.

Outside, a beautiful shell laden beach to walk along and lots of wildlife to see, especially birds.

Highly recommended-we look forward to coming back.

Both of my parents, Ron and Pat loved West Winds. They would spend a month at a time spring and fall. Sadly they are gone now. But the West Winds is in the hearts of my sisters and myself. We try to get together and stay there in the fall. We missed this year, but will be there in Oct. 2013. CAN NOT WAIT! What a beautiful place.

My wife and I are teachers and have rented numerous places in Florida during our spring break for many years. West Wind is by far our favorite! We stayed here the last two years and already have reservations for next year. The facility is ideal…a very quiet beautiful gulf front beach, immaculate and not a high rise. Although quiet and secluded, West Wind is a very short drive to restaurants, shopping, groceries and fun places to visit. The owner is wonderful and pride of the long term family ownership is evident. If you are able to get a reservation here do not hesitate! You will not want to be anywhere else in the future and will find that the only thing that you will not like is having to leave at the end of your stay!

People, MY family has been spending our vacation time here for over 50 years, having also traveled down the east coast and back up the west till we landed here. To say it's special is gross understatement. To say the owners are is also; they built the place with their own hands and still maintain it as if they still lived there. In fact they live right down the beach and have become dear friends! I now look forward to sharing the wonders of this beach with my grandchildren every summer, or just with my sister, or my Mom who now lives nearby, or any friends and cousins who have a spare weekend…

Well, what can we say. We have been coming to Casey Key for over 12 years. Casey Key became our choice after an exhaustive search for "the place" in Florida. That search was a multi-year endeavor by vehicle down the coast from St. Augustine to Key West, and back through Everglades and up the Gulf Coast. Lots of nice places, but some are too touristy and some are too far from civilization. Casey Key was another place we were driving through and stopped to spend the night. We have never gone anywhere else since.

We actually found West Wind Apartments by accident; we used to stay at another place-very secluded and very private. But sadly the owner passed away and the place changed… So, once, upon our arrival, there were no vacancies, hence the search for an alternative and voila!!! We struck gold!!! West Wind Apartments!!!

Immaculate (my wife is a neat freak), attentive-yet not in your face, very hospitable but with a delicate balance of friendliness, politeness and tact. Reasonable-if not downright a bargain. I am not afraid to say this, since we have been coming there for over eight years and the prices have not kept up with inflation. This is not a chain; this is a property being owned/managed by real people who never wanted to be real estate magnates… This is their home too, and you feel it.

The only reason we say these truths is out of respect for the management… I realize that this place is a gem and am looking forward to sharing it with like minded people.

Love, love, love, Westwind Apartments. Our family has been coming Westwinds for 30+ years. First my parents, then myself and family now my grandkids. I can't imagine any sweeter spot in Florida. The location is perfect. Being on the beach is the best, walk out the door and stand on the sand. Walk to the jetty, picking up sharks teeth and shells and occasional sand dollars. Seeing dolphins and manatees, awesome! Sunsets are amazning. The apartments are extremely clean and very serviceable. View from the patio is stunning. Everything you need when on vacation. You can't beat this private feeling retreat. Shhhhh don't tell everyone!

This secluded vacation spot is like having your own private beach playground right on the Gulf of Mexico. Our family has been enjoying the West Wind on Casey Key for over 40 years and we have never been disappointed with our stay. This beachfront property is the ideal location to enjoy a wide range of coastal activities including swimming, biking, golf, tennis, fishing, watching wildlife, shell hunting, dining, or museum trips. The clean and comfortable West Wind has everything you need for a relaxing getaway and the owners serve as the perfect hosts. Once you enjoy the West Wind, you will keep coming back too.

I love this place! It's really clean and comfortable with cheery furnishings and every amenity you need. The staff is great and the beach is pristine and uncrowded. I love the view from the Florida room where you can watch the sunset and dolphins. I would be tough to find a more relaxing place to enjoy a Florida Beach vacation.

I have stayed at West Wind several times. I think it's the best place on earth to stay at the beach!!!

The units are so immaculate, GREAT views of the beach and water, only steps from your door to the water.

Great location close to restaurants, Shopping, the interstate and Airports.

Twenty-one years ago I found the West Wind and have gone there every year since. Each year it gets better and is like coming home. It is a wonderful location. The apartments are spacious, well-equipped and comfortable. Everyone is so friendly. I can't imagine going anyplace else.

We have been going here in October and March for several years. The beach and accomodations are terrific and the service is outstanding. Great spot, quiet but everthing you would want within a 10 minute drive.

My wife and I discovered the West Wind Apartments over 20 years ago—it became our second home whenever we could get away to Florida. It is a modest and hidden gem located in a non commercial area, owned and meticulously maintained by a caring "old Florida" family. Each unit sits immediately on the beach and the Gulf of Mexico with "in your face" sunsets. They are also literally steps away from the Intracoastal Waterway and the Venice Jetty, and lots of fishing and boating activities. Management is attentive and reliable. There are other good places on Casey Key, but this one is very special.
